Support the R. Lewis Donohew Graduate Fellowship Fund

R. Lewis Donohew Graduate Fellowship in the College of Communication and Information is a graduate award presented to an incoming doctoral student who has received a graduate (teaching or research) assistantship and is focusing his or her studies on behavioral communication, especially mass or health communication. The award is designed to inspire an incoming graduate student to boldly follow in the footsteps of the forefather of our graduate program and one of the greatest scholars in the history of our discipline, R. Lewis Donohew.

Dr. Donohew retired from the University of Kentucky in 1999, after nearly 35 years of service, during which time he worked tirelessly to promote and enhance the field of health communication. During his illustrious career, Lewis Donohew worked on many grant-funded research projects totaling over $41 million. For his unmatched success, he was presented with the prestigious Health Communication Scholar of the Year award. He was also recognized by the Society for Prevention Research for his research contribution to health communication campaign research and implementation.
