Support the Sharon K. Butler Memorial Endowment Fund
The Sharon K. Butler Endowed Scholarship, funded by the Sharon K. Butler Memorial Endowment Fund, was established in 1989 by family and friends of an outstanding UK College of Dentistry graduate, following her untimely death at age 32. Dr. Butler graduated first in her DMD class in 1982 and later became the first female oral and maxillofacial surgeon in the Commonwealth, practicing in Lexington and Pikeville. She is remembered as a dedicated dental professional who believed strongly in her work to improve the oral health of Kentucky.
Since 1990, 28 fourth-year students have benefitted from the Sharon K. Butler Endowed Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes students who emulate Dr. Butler by being academically superior, possessing outstanding clinical skills, and being highly involved in student and/or community activities. Scholarships make an impact on student dentists by easing the financial burden that they carry as they near the end of their DMD program. Please consider being part of the impact that the Sharon K. Butler Endowed Scholarship makes.
