Support Kentucky Racing

Kentucky Racing is comprised of the University of Kentucky Solar Car Team and Formula Kentucky (University of Kentucky's Formula SAE Team). In both organizations, students fully design, manufacture, and race with their respective vehicles. By being involved with these organizations, students are able to gain hands-on experience, develop technical and communication skills, and apply what they learn in classrooms to a practical and realistic setting. In addition to building their own students' education, the teams contribute to STEM outreach in the Bluegrass region by participating in local events and visiting local schools.

The UK Solar Car Team works to design, build, and race a fully solar-powered vehicle. The team competes in two races, the Formula Sun Grand Prix (an annual track-style race held on road courses such as the Circuit of the Americas) and the American Solar Challenge (a biennial cross-country race that takes teams across the continent). 2016 marked the first year that UK Solar Car competed in ASC since 2010.

Formula Kentucky works to design, build, and race an open-wheeled racecar. The team competes in Formula SAE, an international student design competition held by the Society of Automotive Engineers. Formula Kentucky takes its car to competition at Michigan International Speedway in May. 2016 marked the first year that the University of Kentucky has had a Formula SAE team that completed every event at Formula SAE Michigan.

Gifts to Kentucky Racing go towards tools, parts, race and registration fees, travel expenses, and other costs that the teams face while pursuing their goals.
