Support the Integrative Medicine Program Fund!
The mission of Integrative Medicine and Health (IMH) is to assist patients in reaching their health and wellness goals by treating the whole person. It provides an integrated care delivery system, beginning in the Markey Cancer Center, that combines leading edge conventional medicine, with evidence-based complementary therapies which serves all patients, regardless of ability to pay. In this effort, IMH embraces ancient and modern therapies to achieve balanced, holistic, and mindful treatments for patients battling cancer and other diseases. Modalities such as acupuncture, yoga, jin shin jyutsu, and pet therapy are combined with mainstream medicine to effectively confront a patient's disease. As a result, IMH affords patients many benefits, including experiencing less anxiety during treatment; reduced nausea and vomiting during chemotherapy; less fatigue during radiation; improved pain management; a strengthened sense of well-being; less stress; and better sleep patterns. By honoring the essential relationship between mind, body, spirit, and community, IMH Director Dr. Connie Jennings restores hope and optimal health in her patients at their most vulnerable time - and reconnects them to what matters most as human beings, not just patients. Your gift allows us to focus on treating the whole person – not just their disease.
